I'd made a few phone calls, caught up with a few people. Being vague about where you've been to muso types is definitely on the easy side - they probably can't even remember what they did yesterday. I booked a gig for Veruca and myself at the Bronze in a day or so. They've not been overrun with bookings like they used to be. Tony just said to turn

I crept up to the shower door, knocked quickly and then opened the door a little, not really looking in. Oz never locks his doors.
"Oz, you in there?" I called out, leaning my back against the door and holding the handle so I wouldn't suddenly fall ass-first backwards.

I turned the taps off and stuck my head around the curtain. "Yeah, I'm nearly done if you needed the bathroom." I stepped out and grabbed a towel, wrapping it around my waist.
"Oh, I got us a paying job too. Tomorrow, the day after, whenever. At the Bronze. There's a setlist on my bed if you want to run over it or anything."
I quickly towelled off and pulled on my clothes, which stuck to me where I was still damp. I pulled to door open and smiled at Veruca. Showering and knowing that I had something to look forward to in the next few days had totally lightened my mood.

Seeing Oz in a good mood and halfway verbal was nice. Unusual but nice. Usually when I wanted conversation I'd have to call my own number and leave voicemails to myself. Smiling back at him, I turned around and went to his room, expecting him to follow since we were having a conversation and all. I picked up the setlist and skimmed it.
"Not bad, I like this," I murmured slowly, going over the songs. "Of course, I have a few ideas of my own, but we can work them in. I guess you want something more...mellow?" I was cool with mellow, but I knew the people at the Bronze and they liked a groovy beat thrown in once in a while, too.

"And mellow is good, I didn't think going all big with just two of us was a gread idea. Two people on stage, just vocals and guitar, trying to groove it up, doesn't really work I think. Especially when there's no ready bunch of groupies who'd groove it up if you sung a shopping list around two chords."
I watched her ponder the setlist, and I could tell that she was really excited about doing a show again.
"Still, if you have ideas, we can do that. Whatever." I smiled at her, unable to hide my own excitement about doing something other than anything else.
