Top 100 Songs of 2012

Feb 02, 2013 15:04

Anyway, after two years of nonstop In Da Club Dancing Until The World Ends hyper-sampled party hits, I thought the music of 2012 was really refreshing. With my ( Read more... )

It might be easier if I just went through these lists and picked my top songs of the year-- easier for me, and easier for anyone who trusts my taste in pop music. But I do like bitching about the songs I hate so much, too :P

If you wait with baited breath, you might smell kinda fishy.

Huh, I honestly never noticed it wasn't "baited" until now; "baited" always made sense to me, like your taste for the bait was what made you wait so devotedly. Learn something new everything day.

Oh my goodness, I had no idea Cher Lloyd had invaded US ears as well. Britain is sorry :(

I still love Gangnam style too. I saw a pistachio display with Psy on it that said "Crack 'em gangnam style" in the grocery store yesterday and laughed my ass off.

LOL! I wonder how people in Gangnam crack their pistachios-- in a special conspicuously consumptive way?

I like these posts! I only listen to NPR, my mp3 player, or one of the three classic rock stations in the area (not to mention that for 2012 I was not even in the country), so it's interesting to see all these songs and artists I don't know.

Everybody’s watching and hoping you’ll fall on your face? Really?

I know I am! It's awful but I wish T Swift would go away. I am so tired of her. Which I feel shitty saying because ~feminism~ or whatever, but it's the truth.

Working at the cave more often than not I am a captive audience for a Mom station. They are the worst fucking thing on the airwaves. Every time I go to a store or waiting room that has a Mom station on my heart goes out to all the employees because I KNOW THEIR PAIN.

But I fucking love Gangnam Style. I love the song, I love the video, I love the dance, I love the dance craze. No, I’m not tired of it yet.

Never tired of Gangnam Style. Never. I'm so glad I was in Korea for that.

Yea! I'm glad you like them.

Well, I don’t think it’s un-feminist to dislike someone for objective non-gender reasons. Presumably you don’t hate her because she’s female, you hate her because you don’t like her music or what she stands for ( ... )

Yeah, I really don't like that her whole ~thing~ is "whiny songs about my relationships with men." Like, sometimes a good relationship ends, or your man cheats on you, or whatever, and you totally have the right to OWN those feelings, but when they're the only ones you choose to express creatively it's a little ehhhhhh. Granted, I don't own any of her albums; there may be perfectly good, not-about-a-man songs that don't get released as singles that I don't know about. In fact, I ASSUME there are, because comparing the hits of other female singers I like (Janis Joplin, Lady Gaga) to the stuff on albums that never hits the airwaves, it's astounding what gets left out. I hope there are, anyway ( ... )
