Mortal Gods and their Foolish Men

I just don't understand what all the fuss is about. Everyone acts like dying is something to be avoided at all costs. I say you should consider yourselves lucky to even have the option!

[Huff. Somebody's jealousSheesh, the nerve of some people. I bet you'd complain, even if we gave you whatever you wanted ( Read more... )

[Well, it wasn't expecting someone to agree so readily]

Wow, really!

[She's really old. Like, older than your grandma x2. She thinks living is boring]

I've had plenty of time to reflect.

[Musashi doesn't have a grandma. It has a mom, though! Sorta.]

Mmmh, it's definitely a problem for those of us who are technically incapable of experiencing death. Of course, it could also be argued that no one on this ship has that option, what with the captain's actions on the matter being extremely predictable!

I'm sorry all this talk about death has annoyed you. I hope it quiets down after this.

I don't think you're sorry at all. That's alright though, I'm used to dealing with nonsensical opinions by now.

I don't lie. [Like, ever.] But suit yourself.

Leaving aside the well-known techniques of presenting false information without lying outright, I was actually implying a lack of sincerity rather than a presence of falsehood. However, if that's the way you feel about it, then you should share your opinions on the problem.

Given the value that you seem to place on preserving individual lives within your immediate family, you seem well-equipped to present an opposing viewpoint in the argument.

[Tachikoma adore arguing, this is a fact of life.]

Every time you open your mechanical little mouth, my opinion of your programmers drops considerably.

I think I know why OUR robots were never programmed to speak.

At this point, what remains of our original programming is basic set functions and the root-base security inlays that were put forth by the Major.

In other words, true Tachikoma are grown, not programmed.

If you think my capabilities are sub-par, then you're welcome to come see me try them out in person~♫

Well that explains everything.

I'm certain you'd like that. Personally I'd rather see you in a duel to the death against one of our four-legged tanks from Haven. I'm reasonably certain they outclass you by a few thousand pounds at least.

tachikhromatic February 10 2010, 04:34:11 UTC
Hey, we once faced down a tank ten times my size and won! We might be small, but don't underestimate us.

Besides, a few thousand pounds is nothing. That's like the mass-index of Mister Batou, and I've taken down opponents twice his weight-class before, easy. Do you think this armor is just for show?

Generous?

You call what he's done generous! Are you glitching!

Well, not the interrogation, obviously. You're just as bad as the rest when it comes to picking up context clues!

[If ever Musashi has sounded angry, it's now. Why does nobodee understaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand meeeeeeeee?!]

I do not wish to. Anyone who calls that creature generous is obviously malfunctioning!

Just because your personality functions on a unilateral continuum it doesn't mean everyone else is so limited.

The Major Those with power are perfectly capable of holding salvation in one hand and death in the other!

Change is the only thing that keeps us alive, Musashi.

You really think so?

Still, the idea that you or Mister Batou might one day become irrelevant is pretty difficult to process.

You're very young. It could happen.

[It should be audible, the horrible grinding sound Musashi's thoughts make at the idea that the Major would be okay with that]

You...don't mind? I don't want to forget about you. You're my-

You're the Major.
