I don't know how some people can be taking this so lightly. Maybe they don't realize how big of a tragedy has truly happened here. Not everyone is as upset about it as I am. I don't know why I feel so gravely affected by it. I don't even know a single person in Virginia, but I feel the deepest sadness for the whole community. I feel as though my ( Read more... )

Yeah it is sad. I've been checking the news instead of paying attention in class today. I actually teared up in my first class because there were a bunch of pictures of the victims posted. crazy.

I can't tear myself away from the news lately. I mean... I've been glued to CNN every second I'm not in class. It's ridiculous. I actually had to turn it off yesterday because it was making my stomach hurt.

it's so horrible. i have an e-friend who goes there and her german professor was killed. she's all right, thank God, the amount of tragedy is overwhelming. i had a dream last night about shootings, and i was kind of shaky/out of it when i first got into work today, and a couple people asked me if i was okay and i said why, and they kind of just blew it off/teased me. WTF.

That is awful! I'm glad your friend is okay, though.

I was so shocked when I found out that one of the professors was killed when he saved his class by letting them hide and staying behind to face the shooter. And above all that he was a Holocaust survivor. AND it was Holocaust Remembrance Day. That in itself makes me want to cry.

I'm sorry you had those dreams, they must have been terrifying :(

Yeah, the amount of apathy is sickening. I guess tragedy is a subjective term. I didn't think I'd have cried about something like this last week - I cried yesterday. You just never know I guess.

Yeah, I cry when I watch extended news coverage. Especially when they show personal accounts of what happened and that sort of thing.

hi, i found your LJ randomly (i am bored).
I understand how you feel about the massacre. I'm Australian and it really makes me think.
My university would be devestated - my whole community, the whole city. So many people are affected by these tragedies.
I think it's good that you are not desensitised when you hear these horrible news stories.
