Heyy I didn't post some sketches from last year. Not great ones, sadly.
Also a bit on avatar modding in SL.
This is the best of the bunch. A little thank you pic for MBPanther on deviantART whose art you should give a look if you have the time. I wanted to get a certain kind of color contrast in this pic, but I could not pull it off, not even close.
March calendar picture for the Savannah Calendar. Yeahhh... sort of rushed this and forgot what I wanted with the shading halfway through. Still, looks decent printed.
The common theme of "started ambitously, then lost track of what I was doing" continues in the next one which was inspired by the Ahadi RPG. Sephot is slowly losing his mind, but here, he just wants to help. As always when I try to draw a Bubasti, it turns out all weird. Especially since you mustn't highlight their fur, so they're forever bound to look unfinished.
Scribbled a Heliolisk on a post-it at work, of course didn't know how frill-necked lizards look IRL. Ehhh.... close enough?
And a forums avatar for a new user. Can't resist sabertooths. Very plain shapes for easier downsizing.
Also, Christmas greeting picture thing.
Merry Xmas! by
Tacimur on
deviantART And for fun, I did a collage of Jarmara's and Tani's default expression. Annoyed stare. Oh, isn't he a joy to be around... Includes some of the commissions I got up to that point.
Now for the SL part. (For the non mutual friends, I post a shitton of SL screens. For more, request to be friended.)
I'd already modded two sizes of Bakemonoya tiger to look like Rumi and Tacimur, but the model got updated to better leg articulation. After that, the textures didn't wrap around the model properly anymore, and I thought I'd take the opportunity to add extra shine and detail. (The model's actual mesh surface is very smooth, so everything that looks like subtle elevations and depths is painted.)
On Rumi, it shows a lot more, of course. :) I'm fairly proud of this.
And I got a better mane and some chest floof from the Grendel's sabertooth tiger and stuck them on, doesn't look so flimsy now and goes better with the animated poses.
Lastly for today, I tried to collect a few mods for the Uchi Felis avatar, a free but very versatile and pretty av. I repeat, it is free and can just be picked up in the Uchi main store. Its default color is white, which looks pristine by itself. The first pic shows it in the unmodded state.
The other colors are free mods. For the black, I just tinted the head and used an old Neko skin, and the mocha one cost money but was very cheap. Of course there's countless more, also more exciting fur patterns, but I tried to get mainly free ones.
And that's it. Have a nice weekend!
