She knew about those wooden boys, it's an empty love to fill the void.

Comfortable, safe, content vs. exciting, passionate, dramatic.

I'll have two scoops of both, plus chocolate sauce.

we talking relationships?

because in my experience (and i bring the cynicism of a divorcee), comfort, safey and contentness are a bit of an illusion. everything changes; nothing ever remains the same for good. so i'd take the second option; at least you'll feel alive!

Everyone assumes I mean relationships, but I guess I mean both that and life in general. One tends to imitate the other, I've found.

In any case, I think I'm inclined to agree. (Said with the cynicism of someone who's broken every heart she's touched, mind.)

I think a relationship has to have a bit both to be a good solid one. Then again who am I to talk since I always seem to pick the dramatic high energy, fully intense love affairs that end up making me meltdown into puddles of goop. I often wonder what love would be like without the fights, the crying and the drama llamas but I can never seem to fall into the safe comfy bubble.

For me, exciting, passionate, dramatic gets tiresome after a while. I like it to be EPD in the beginning, and then settle down into CSC with brief interludes of EPD. Or at least the EP. Drama is something I can do without in a relationship. I'm bad enough on my own, thanks.

Of course if there's too much of Comfortable safe and content, and not enough excitement and passion, then I'm likely to get bored and go looking elsewhere. Middle ground is your friend, or so I hear.
