Wow I really don't understand why my cat is causing problems all of a sudden!!

He had to be confined to my room for the past week (since last Tuesday) because he got neutered and couldn't be around the other cats. He wasn't that happy about it but the roommates were at least taking him out to play a bit while I was at work, and I make sure spend ( Read more... )

Sometimes cats prefer to pee on soft things when they get urinary crystals, so if you see him straining to pee he's probably in pain :C

Also you should get an enzyme cleaner or else he will think your bed is Pee Palace forever, it will still smell like pee to him.

Ahh darn I hope he doesn't have something like that :/ It hasn't really appeared like he's been straining when I've seen him in the litter box? But I'm not sure.
And yeah I'll have to get some of that stuff for sure. Only problem is the foam below my mattress pad that I can't really put into a washing machine. It's just a massive foam block. I read somewhere that cleaning with vinegar would help ( it didn't soak all the way to the mattress itself thank goodness)

Google says that you need to make sure he's peeing, not just spraying. I'd say if he's also going number 2, then he's not just marking territory. If that's the case, he may have a urinary tract infection. Considering he just got neutered, that sounds pretty reasonable. I mean, he hasn't been able to clean down there for a week. Take him back to the vet and let them know what's going on. That link above had some good tips on making sure there are no other factors.

In general, a cat will go in their litter box unless they are upset by some other factor. That could be a lot of things, but make sure it's not a health issue first and foremost.

I don't think it's spraying, it's never on any vertical surfaces. Always just the bed those three times. He hasn't had any problems with that since I've stopped letting him have free access to my room. I always make sure to have him there only when I am too. Though I guess he has peed on stuff in other rooms if stuff is on the floor (the other cat Walter does that, he pees on bath mats and paper bags that are left on the floor :P).
Anyway...seems like he's doing fine for now. But I'll definitely call the vet if something happens again
