So, is a 75 job still an accomplishment despite never having partied once after 40?

No no, you're pretty much done gearing if you'd like to not spend the effort. Naked + March/Min/Elegy instrument = successful BRD. Just get a Troubadour and Nightingale merit and you'll be ready for any end game event.
