This is kind of a cool rhyme scheme, and flows better in terms of rhythm and syllables. It brings up a lot of mysteries about the central character as well :)
(Although, Yggdrasil wasn't an oak tree. Just sayin'.)

Yes! However the word oaken doesn't necessarily mean made out of oak. It can mean cold and insensitive, or it can also mean strong, or it can also mean showing no emotions. I guess the fact that it also related to trees made the word too good to resist ;)
