Resting on the little girl's stomach, Kagome let out a steady stream of hearty purrs. Not unlike those of an idling jet engine.
'You know, despite being a cat, life isn't all that bad,' she thought sleepily. There were the obvious perks. She got to eat as much fish as she wanted. She got to spend most of her day napping in the sun. And there was never a lack of attention. Rin adored her! 'And she has magical hands.' Kagome's purrs escalated as said girl's fingers scratched behind her ears. 'Yep! This is the life!'
Then… why did this feel wrong?
Bleary blue eyes peeped open.
Nearby, Sesshoumaru raised an brow at her curious glance.
'I can't… stay like this, can I?' she thought. Hopping down from her human pillow, the hapless miko-turned-feline trotted over to the daiyoukai. Carefully, she paused. What did he want with her? Or maybe, it was just her projecting her suspicions upon him. Sesshoumaru always was a hard nut to crack.
Crouching down, he held out his palm - a open invitation.
Kagome, somewhat wary, placed her paw within his grasp.
"Hn."
She looked up, mewing.
"I intend to uncover your secrets, little feline," he stated in his smooth tenor. "There is nothing you can keep hidden from me."
And that was a promise.
