Yeah, you were successful. So tell this technology idiot (I mean challenged) person how you did it!

I was trying to make the explanation easy to understand via a post, but it just kept getting more confusing--because the html commands would do what they were supposed to and not show up in the body of the text--ugh.

So, the easiest way is to use the (...)button in the rich text mode when posting, or I also found helpful the FAQ section which addresses the "How do I do a lj-cut?"

But, basically (yeah, right), the initial html command (which the (...) button puts in for you(see below) is < lj-cut > (minus the spaces in between--I had to use them, otherwise the html command disappeared within the post . . .).
I think it is easier to use the (...)button within the rich text format for posting which will give you a prompt to enter what words you want to link the text to; for example, I used "blah, blah, blah". Then, once you have typed all the text you want to be in the lj-cut, just type the html command, < /lj-cut > (again, without the spaces ( ... )

The way I do it is to type <, then lj-cut text="whatever words you want to act as a link," and then >. I haven't played with the rich text editor, so I don't know what the heck Jessica is talking about.

I get that a lot! And, see, I told you someone could put it into words better than I could :)
