Waiting to upgrade

Well, the first two days of class have essentially been a catastrophe. Apparently the greater usage load combined with some other changes that have been made caused the campus portal to melt down. We were on the phone with PS tech support until after 1am last night, and I finally got to go home around 2:40am after we had done just about ( Read more... )

Yeah, people were always complaining about Computer Services was stupid. I would say "no, it's usually not their fault." It sounds like what happens is the vendors say the software/hardware will handle the load but it doesn't, so that's why it crashes. And then folks are scrambling around 'til 1 a.m.

btw, I added you. It's the Head of Security. (I keep my real name sekrit online, to hide from my students.)
