for a moment in time
photoshoots are always a little bit of a bore. there's a lot of waiting, a lot of preping, and a lot of make-up under hot lights.
taemin's always thought it ironic that the winter collection photos are shot when it's too hot outside to wear clothes. he starts to drift in and out of sleep what with the heat of his cardigan and the uncomfort of his carefully made-up face and hair.
but taemin starts badly when key says something like: "doesn't...look like...emma watson?"
his neck spins so fast that he gets a crick in his neck. when he turns his head, he's blinded momentarily by the ends of his bangs. impatient to see and scared to hope, he brushes them away, not caring about the repercussions. after that he sees brown wavy locks, shoulder length and a smart looking forest green peacoat.
beside him somewhere, jonghyun laughs at something key has said. meanwhile, taemin feels a stuttering in his heart strings. taemin strains his eyes to see, but the lights are bright and the person in question too far away to tell.
onew, noticing the youngest looking pale except for two rosy marks on his cheeks, asks, "are you okay, taemin?" and follows taemin's gaze.
"is something wrong with minho?" asks onew when taemin doesn't answer.
and it's then, after a split second of realization, that it all comes crashing down. it's not emma watson. it's not even a girl.
it's minho. and right when the thought clicks, minho turns. large eyes search questioningly until they land on taemin's. taemin offers a small smile. the letdown is hard to swallow easily even though it was the aftermath of something with the probability of a miracle.
minho's eyes go soft, huge brown irises melting like swirling hot cocoa on a winter day. his lips, formerly in a stoutly serious formation, spread easily across his face. taemin swears that minho's corneas even twinkle.
'ah, whatever' thinks taemin as he waves onew away with "it's nothing hyung. nothing."
'even if it was emma watson, what would i have said, what would i have done?' and with that, taemin feels immense relief that it's minho standing there.
taemin decides to give minho a huge hug after the photoshoot because he sure looks like he needs one as the stylists and make-up artists hassle him for moving too much. and because, after facing his hair stylists' wrath, he's going to need one too.
