kindrie's space ext_5964263 February 2 2022, 19:55:15 UTC
Since his introduction I have felt like Kindrie is the holder of both Tori's and Jame's identity - both of them have deep fundamental fears of forgetting themselves in the power - Jame runs toward recklessness and dances with the desire to allow herself to forget her self, her identity, her responsibilities while Tory hides from all of that with fierce determination - so to me Kindrie's active role is to know them both, to create the safety that there is a power that can hold them true to themselves and their humanity in the face of the awesome power they are conduits for and supposed to learn to wield. Seeing and Knowing are very active powers in the right circumstances, and a very difficult challenge for Kindrie to develop based on his own trauma and lack of connection to his own true identity. Once Kindire knows himself and his place and his power he will be the tie that binds in the trio.

Good points. Yes, that are Jame's and Tori's approaches to their powers. She yearns to cut loose; he struggles to hold in, although that slowly, awkwardly, is changing in the new novel. Yes, I can see Kindrie as a balance between them (several other readers have also suggested this), but he's got a lot of growing to do and not much time to do it in.
