Well, this has certainly been a bumpy exchange. Though I am happy with the final output. It looks like most people seem to have liked their gifts, so I’d call this a win.
I’d like to thank all the pinch hitters for their help.
I do have sad news. As some of you know, last round I said I would not run Tag again unless I had someone to help me with it. Pessi is the wonderful person who volunteered. She had no previous exchange experience and I feel she did a wonderful job for her first time. Sadly, it will also be her last time. She has decided that exchange moderating is not for her and so is stepping down.
This means that I am one mod short once more. So, running next year is entirely dependent on finding a new second mod or someone taking over completely.
If it does run again, what time of year would you want it to be? I do not want it to run at the same time as ShipSwap, so please keep that in mind when suggesting times of the year.
So, why didn’t I ask for more prompts from the pinch hits earlier? Because I feel as a moderator it is my responsibility to get them something of their fandom and they shouldn’t have to change their requests unless they volunteer to do so. It is something I want to avoid unless things have become absolutely dire.
I feel that the groups weren’t worth the headache of having them in the exchange. But I want to hear your thoughts on them.
There was one thing that seriously bothered me and I have been debating back and forth about whether to discus with everyone. I run exchanges because I actually find it fun. I have way more fun running exchanges than participating in them. I understand that everything I do as a moderator is up for criticism and complaints. I don’t care if I am wanked about, if the exchange is wanked about, I don’t care if people vaguely wank about their recipients/gifts in a manner that they can’t be identified. But I do care if a participant is wanked about to the point that they send me a private message apologizing for being a “horrible participant.” Especially when what they did wasn’t even that big of a deal. In fact, the issue that people were complaining about was resolved through private messages. I know there is really nothing I can do about it. But this whole thing really bothered me.
