1)Crossover - Harry Potter and 2)Alternate Universe - Hogwarts.
"crossover" means it includes characters from Harry Potter and takes place in the timeline of the books/movies, whereas AU Hogwarts means that your characters go to Hogwarts/have some interaction with Hogwarts, but no HP characters necessarily need to appear/it can be on a different timeline?
I feel that this is the sort of thing that each person should specify in their details/letter, because it depends a lot on personal preferences. I happen to be one of the participants who requested both tags for one of my fandoms. My idea for the HP Crossover tag is that it wouldn't necessarily take place in the timeline of the books, since I tend to prefer post-canon HP fics (completely ignoring the epilogue in most cases), and for the AU Hogwarts tag I would be a little disappointed to get a fic that did not include any HP characters. But other people might feel differently about all of this and strongly prefer the exact opposite of what I want. ;)
If you get matched with a participant who requests either or both of these tags, see if they specify anything in their details/letter. If they don't, you can always ask us mods to forward any questions that you may have to them. :)
