Spending money on children does not make them appreciate the value of money; just materials. I say this out of experience - I didn't start caring about wasting my parents' money by failing college and shit, but since it's my own ass now, I do.

Yeah...we actually bought the violin because her instructor thought she was growing out of the one she had; and my daughter was initially very excited with it and practiced without being harangued. But this dance thing has turned things upside down.

I hope we haven't been so indulgent that she takes us for granted. But I guess only time will tell.....

WOW!! You go offline, and all sorts of stuff happens!

Did you already know those martial arts before you got into this job?

Gymnastics + Kung fu = CRAZY SKILLS. I remember freaking out people during Karate stretching in college because I still had some of my gymnastics flexibilty. High kicks above my head + splits seemed to freak out most of the other students.

I'm trying to find a decent non - belt competition dojo around here, actually. Funny that you're WORKING in one when I'm trying to find one. Hee!

I had martial arts experience, but not kung fu; shotokan karate. It helps some but hurts more. My stances are terrible because there is a sig. diff. between the styles. I enjoy taiji, though; but even the stances there are different from what I'm doing in kung fu despite its closer relationship. I'm in the leadership program, where our sifu does pretty intensive training with us, and I basically got my toes beaten with a stick for an hour this last week because they were too far out...got to learn somehow...heh...I hate to admit that I enjoyed it, though...

Masochist. :) Go you for that training, though. It sounds awesomely worthwhile.
