theyre really different to all other birds.. they have a different skeleton - their bones arent hollow. The design of their wings/flippers is more like a whales than a flightless bird. They are almost the only animal that lives at 100degrees of temperature. (some live in the antartic, some live in the magellian islands near the equator). They are the only modern bird family in which all the members are flightless. (emus and things are paelognathates which are different, slightly primative birds) And their soo cute!

Oh, I was lucky and grew up in a country where they occasionally showed works of Miyazaki genius on TV.
