People confuse me.

I don't expect my students to be particularly self-aware. I don't expect my yr7 kids to be able to figure out on their own why they reacted to a situation in a particular way or the roots of their issues and all that sort of stuff. I expect to spend a lot of my time on behaviour management and trying to get them to think about their behaviour, ( Read more... )

I feel similarly but have been surprised at times at my own lack of self-awareness. It often is a case of different circumstantial pressures changing your understanding of things.

Ultimately we cannot know the mind of another so to say what you are saying is to say you expect everyone to be as self-possessed as you are and maybe you are somewhat privilaged in that. Maybe maturity is a lot to ask of a bunch of mammals.

The main thing I expect, at least from professionals, is professionalism.

Mostly, I'm pretty tolerant but there are some people who are just SO bad at it that it utterly confuses me.
