Summary: Kibum spends a day at the park and there he meets a boy....
Little Kim Kibum scowled.
He didn't like the way his feet didn't touch the ground when he sat on the park bench. It made him feel so little. So un-adultlike. Kibum hated being a kid.
He swings his feet hopelessly, trying to make them touch the ground with each swing but they just wouldn't come in contact. He huffed and sank down further into the bench, crossing his arms. Fine, if the ground didn't want to touch his feet then he didn't care about it anyway.
He was bored. His mom had made him leave his house urging him to 'play' but Kibum didn't want to play. He didn't have any friends yet since they just moved in last week and no, he thought as he watched the people at the park. He didn't want to make friends with these people.
He watched with narrowed eyes as a small girl in pink dragged a curly haired boy to sit over with her red-haired friend to have 'tea' and a very fragile-looking boy fell over, dropping the bucket of sand he was carrying and breaking into loud sobs and the little boy who had been searching for spiders in the bush next to Kibum ran over to shush him.
No, he didn't want to be dragged into tea parties or be friends with little cry babies.
He sighed and shifted his attention elsewhere, just in time to see a little boy ambling up to him.
Kibum uncrossed his arms and cocked his head to the side in curiosity. The boy was barefoot and he was wearing a weird blue dress that came up to his knees. Kibum had never seen anyone dressed like that before. He wanted to ask the boy why but the boy seemed distracted. He had this focused look on his face as he grabbed feebly at something Kibum couldn't see in the air and Kibum had almost decided that the boy was insane before he noticed that there was a lone dandelion floating in the air and the boy was trying to catch it.
The boy was getting more and more frustrated as the dandelion floated higher and higher up and soon it was floating directly towards Kibums bench. Since Kibum was bored and he had nothing else to do, he stood up on the park bench and caught the dandelion seed in his small hand before climbing back down and thrusting it into the smaller boys hands.
"There." he said simply, and the small boy beamed at him, and in a flash Kibum thought that the boy was beautiful. But that was silly. How could boys be beautiful? Especially when their lips were cracked and their skin was paler than usual.
The little boy clasped his hands together with the dandelion seed inside and whispered something into it with his eyes closed before his opened his eyes again and blew it away.
"Hey! Why did you do that? I thought you wanted to have it?" Kibum asked, bewildered.
"That was a wish. Didn't you know?" the boy answers, smiling toothily up at him with sparkling eyes.
"I thought they were just dandelions."
The boy shakes his head.
"You catch them and tell them what you wish for and then you let them go."
"Why do you have to blow them away?"
"I don't know." The boy says thoughtfully, tilting his head to the side as he thought about it. "Maybe they go up to the angels and tell them what we want to make our wishes come true."
"Oh." Kibum nods. That made sense. "What did you wish for?"
"I wished to see the ocean." the boy announced, clapping his hands in glee. "Umma says I'm not well enough to see the ocean. But because of you i can. Thank you!"
The boy suddenly throws his arms around Kibums neck, and Kibum is shocked, but only for a little bit because soon he's hugging the little boy back and he wonders why his face suddenly feels so hot.
"You're welcome." he whispers into the boys bonnet (he briefly wondered if the boy had hair but he thought it would be too rude to ask), and the boy draws away and gives him another one of those really toothy smiles. But then the boys eyes suddenly widen and a look of panic flashes across his face.
"I'm sorry." he tells a very bewildered Kibum. "I have to run."
And he does run, and a not a second later a gaggle of people in white dresses come running after him screaming: "Donghae! Donghae!" and Kibum is once again alone.
"Donghae." he whispers, as he's on his way back home. He smiles and decides he likes the name, but then he realizes a little bit later that he wasn't able to tell Donghae what his name was and he pouts and locks himself in his room not going out no matter how loud his mother yelled at him though the wood.
The next day he returns to the park at the same time, hoping to catch a glimpse of the boy named Donghae, but the boy doesn't come. In fact, there are no people there. Save for the little fluffy-haired boy lurking around the park bench once again with a matchbox in his hands.
"Are you still trying to catch spiders?!" he asks the boy, irritated.
"Yes." the boy said, "Do you want to help me?"
Kibum decides to help, but only because he was bored and it gave him something to do while he waited for Donghae to come again, so he takes the stick that the other boy offers him and looks around the bushes in search of cobwebs and it takes a while but when he finally finds one in a bush not to far from his bench he suddenly doesn't want to catch spiders anymore.
"I have to go home now." he tells the fluffy-haired boy as he hands the stick back over and the boy looks sad that he's leaving but he says nothing about it.
Kibum walks home trying to forget the dandelions he found stuck to the cobwebs he had found.
