And this is what we mean when we say that names have power. Nothing in your situation has changed -- but by gaining the name, you acquire understanding, and understanding leads to power. The name alone is nothing, but just thinking about it as a thing with a name is enough to begin transforming your experience.

Welcome to magic. :-)

I wont say that understanding leads to power... I would say it leads to, well, understanding.
Magic is nothing more than people attributing their discoveries to something outside of themselves.

I've realized recently that I dont believe in power...or magic. just knowledge =]

Why does magic have to be external?

And from a certain point of view, I don't perceive a difference between knowledge and magic. :-)

Well, from the way I see it (and I'm not trying to insult your beliefs, my mother has similar views and she is a brilliant woman)

It has to be external because everything internal already has a name. Knowledge, bravery, love, phycological function..etc. Everything internal is a chemical reaction from the brain... often based on primal instincts. Because I wouldn't call primal instincts magical, I couldn't possibly call anything based on it magical either.

I can understand what you mean about knowledge, it helps you as a person and gives you a sense of security... arguably knowledge could be called magic, but I wouldn't.
