Who: Izumo and Lee
When: Monday six ish
Where: The first floor men’s dorm hall.
Summary: Lee meets Izumo when he first gets there and helps him move in.
Warnings: None, except Lee’s usual Lee-ness
Izumo was walking to his 'assigned' room, a large dufflebag over one shoulder and a rolling carryon being dragged along -- complete with that squeaky wheel that had been driving him insane since he landed in japan. He was tired and looked it. Izumo had never been one to be able to sleep on an airplane an the 12 hour trip from London to Japan followed by several more hours of trains and a ferry had caused the man to look very tired. He had the key to his dorm though, A02, and a map of where he could pick up the boxes that had arrived here before him. He walked through the first floor hallway looking for his room -- once again reading signs in Japanese a slight change of pace for him.
Coming back from his shower Lee was dressed in his pajamas already, but he was planning on going down and getting a small snack. His sleep wear was of course green, and fuzzy, but other than that just a simple dark green tank top and pants. Walking down the hall towards the cafeteria he stopped at seeing someone he didn't recongnize and he looked very tired, "Excuse me? Do you need any help?"
Answering at first in English, Izumo started to say, "Yeah, I can't find my bloody ..." Then he stopped and restarted in Japanese, "Sorry, yes, I am looking for room A02? I just got here and the map seems a little. Actually it's probbaly not the map so much as I'm several timezones off and just had a long trip. I'm Kamizuki Izumo and I would very much appreciate a push in the right direction." The man was wearing what appeared to be nothing more exciting than jeans and a dark brown long sleeved T-shirt, inless a person was into name brands enough to notice they were expensive jeans and Tshirt. He ened his little speech with a hopeful smile.
Though it may be surprising to many the work-out guru was actually very fluent in several languages, so he picked up the British slang easily, but more powerful than that was his excitement at a new student. Nearly jumping up he walked a few steps closer to him before enthusiastically falling back into Gai-sensei's pose with his arm out and thumb out, "I am Rock Lee! Welcome to Sado University! I would be more than pleased to help you!"
Izumo froze, his smile nearly falling from his face before he recovered his manners. “I am pleased to meet you. I obviously just transferred to here.” Deciding this encounter was going to take longer than a grunt and a point in the right direction, Izumo let his heavy duffle land on the floor. The thing was obviously filled as full as possible and had Virgin Air tags indicating a point of origin of Heathrow and a destination of Tokyo on them. “A little help would be great; I assume you know your way around here?” He gestured vaguely at the hallway, “I seem to be doing a good job of getting turned around and I still have to find the mail room. The woman at the office said my stuff was there but they’re only open until 6.” He glanced at his watch, “I don’t seem to have reset my watch, it’s not 6 yet, right?”
Being the extremly polite and helpful person he is Lee of course ran forward and picked up the duffel bag easily with his left arm, showing it was no strain whatsoever. Checking his own watch he shook his head, "You are an hour off, what year are you?" As polite as he was however he was also endlessly curious. Walking backwards with the bag still in hand down the hallway back towards his dorm, watching the newcomer still.
Izumo’s confusion could probably be attributed to jetlag, "2006?" Then he had the decency to look embarrassed and shake his head, "Oh you mean … yeah third year. Philosophy." He took a deep breath as he gestured at his watch, "I forgot to set it when we landed, and thank you." Izumo followed the much more awake an energetic boy, the confused look evidently a permanent feature … at least until he got some sleep that didn’t involve moving a tray table. "And you?"
"First" Hm Philosophy, did Lee know anyone else like that? He looked so tired! He didn't even notice the slip up Izumo made, "Kamizuki-san you look exhausted"
Izumo smiled, "I can't sleep on airplanes. I left heathrow Sunday so not sure what day that was here, It's six hours off but I can't keep track of which way -- earlier or later. Plus I was running around campus getting everything set up for my conference class and all that chaos that goes with switching schools midstream." He shrugged, "And to think this was suposed to be relaxing coming here."
"How would it be relaxing?" It was very hard to exhaust Lee or depress him, so it always confused him when people got really stressed out like he apparently was.
With a slight laugh, Izumo shrugged, "No English food, No English weather, and doctor's orders to go to the beach everyweekend." He smiled, "Besides the girls are prettier here -- or at least they aren't all taller than me." He made a cague gesture that could mean girls on campus or girls on the idland in general. Izumo was an average height for Japan, but obviously in England he would have been considered short.
He thought about his own height for a moment, he knew he was somewhat taller than the norm, and Tenten had been a little disgruntled at this, although it was never a big deal for him. Then he started thinking on the females he met there so far, "Hana-san is a little taller than you I think, um I do not really know that many girls here.. Akanami-san is though! Wait why would it be bad to go to the beach?”
With another shrug, Izumo sighed. "Oh it isn't bad. It is nice being someplace with a beach. I saw it when the ferry pulled up to the dock. This is just very odd being back in Japan. I don't think I have heard anyone speak Japanese in four years until I boarded the plane to get here." He tried to change the subject, "So, how do you like it here?"
He grinned broadly, "I like it very much! Neji is here, and several other people I know like Naruto and Sakura-san" He wished Gai-sensei were here, or Tenten but maybe they would come later.
izumo nodded, "So what do you do for fun? I mean when you aren't studying ... by the way what did you say your major was?" Izumo knew full well the boy hadn't said his major, but was just trying to be polite.
"I run, train, study and swim" Sometimes he spent time with Neji but that wasn't very often, and Lee found some things fun that others didn't. Since he didn't have many friends, or much of a life outside of his training or studies, his hobbies were few.
Izumo smiled and nodded. Normally when someone 'forgot' to mention their major twice it meant that they were 'undecided'. Izumo had never gone through that phase, well not really. "So I assume there is a pool? or do you go down to the beach? I'm more of the study type myself." He tried to be discrete in his sizing up of the other man. It didn't take an expert though to notice that the other boy had much more muscle mass than he did. Then again the other boy probably wasn't on orders to take it easy either.
Of course he didn't notice, but thats just because of how he is. Actually though he is under constant orders to 'take it easy' because of how he tends to push himself to his limits and a little over, "There is a pool and, Kinsiology is my major, if you must know"
Izumo nodded, "The map indicated that the dinning hall wasn't far from where my dorm is located? Or am I reading the map wrong. I always get turned around the first few days of a new school." He sounded like a veteran of new schools.
He shook his head and tossed the bag into the air and turned around fully to catch it with ease, "You are right"
Covering up a yawn, Izumo glanced at his watch again, "I don't think I'm going to make it to the mailroom for the rest of my stuff in time and they expect me to start classes tomorrow. This is crazy. Is the food good?" If the guy has been traveling since yesterday afternoon he is probbaly rather hungry and tired.
The food was horrible, but he didn't have the heart to say so, "It is alright, most people do not eat there though" He did, because it was the simplest and easiest way to do it, "The mailroom opens two hours before classes start, you can get your things then"
"Ahhhh. My coffeemaker is in those boxes." he took a deep breath, "Is there a place to get a decent cup of coffee on campus? Or a not so decent one?" He had a hopeful expression awaiting Lee's answer.
"I do not drink coffee, I drink tea." He seemed slightly upset at not being able to help him on that subject, but he just drank tea. He had splurged last week and bought a electric burner for heating up water so he could make it in his dorm easier, since he got up so early and all.
Izumo shrugged, "It's all right. Its just a bad habit I picked up my freshman year. I thought it might be a little hard finding coffee around here so I made sure to ship some. I'm just lucky the boxes got here before I did. I really was prepared to have nothing more than the duffle and my carryon. I can't believe how much earlier classes tart here than what I'm used to." he was trying to smile since Lee seemed upset.
It wasn't that early was it? The whole time thing wasn't a big deal for him, it never had been, "What time do you get up?"
"I think I am in for a rude awakening. At Leeds my first class wasn't until 10:30. It seems I will have to get used to getting up earlier now that I am here." He shrugged, "Then again I won't have a class herre stetching until midnight either."
"Midnight?! Wow I never had a class like that!" He scratched the back of his head as he lightly tossed the bag from one hand to the other, "I get up at five am, but I've been getting up at that time for years"
scribblesITM (8:02:13 PM): "Oh, it was just my Plato class, the professor believed everything that man said, especially about 'He was a wise man who invented beer' o he held classes at the local 'pub'" For Pub he used the english word. "So it wasn't like classes on campus went that late. But the major tends towards alte nights. Even Newton makes sense at 2AM"
"Is that allowed?" He had never heard of someone holding classes at a place like that before.
Izumo nodded, "Things are a little differant there. You wouldn't believe the teasing I got when I told my odl 'suitemates' err roomates, that there was a school uniform here. That's not normal for universities students in Japan, right? I mean, I didn't look at any Japanese schools so I could have just not realized." Yes, Izumo has definately not been in country for a rather long time since if he had attended high school in Japan he would be well aware.
"Um this is my first university so I do not know much about it either, Gai-sensei picked Sado for me" Wow he just wasn't making any more sense was he?
"I'm sorry, I might be a little ... incoherant." The pause was almost as if Izumo was trying to remeber the Japanese word for something, he had already slipped up a few times afterall. "Friday the boys took me out as a going away thing and then the packing and all Saturday and the travel Sunday and today and I am normally a lot more coherant than this. Maybe once i get ym stuff to my room I should grab some of this q uestionable food and try to sleep for 12 hours until I have to get up and prove how long it's been since I've done any serious writing in Japanese."
Lee became concerned for him as they stopped in front of Izumo's dorm, "You should sleep! Then practice in the morning! Diligence is the key, no more late nights spent out!"
Flumbling in his pocket for the key, Izumo found it and opened the door. As the door swung open the look of 'what the hell have I gotten myself into' could not be missed. "This is going to take some work." he paused at the door and closed his eyes for a second before takeing a deep breath and clapping his hands once. After the handclap he stepped in looking at the institutional appearing room. "This will definately take some work to make it relaxed." He placed his carryon on the desk and took the duffle from lee, throwing it onto the bed. "Food should be right that way?" he pointed in the direction of the dining hall.
Lee nodded and went to go back the way he was originally headed, "Take care of yourself Kamizuki-san, good luck adapting!"
"Thank you Lee-san, your help was greatlly appreciated." With that Izumo started his 'adapting'
