A good friend of mine has Vanderarrk for English 11 AP. I never had this teacher, but for those of you who did, or have heard things

-- what do you know?

--How is the class?

--What advice would you offer this student?

When I took it, there were 10 other people in the class. So it's rather different from what it normally was like. Anyway, it was kinda pointless, but if you do the readings, you should be fine.

Um, I had him for normal english 10. He's sorta touchy feely. If you get on his good side that's probably good. Personally, I learned that if I had him look at my papers before turning them in, and then made his changes, that I would get a good grade. I'm not sure if he would do that for AP students though, but it's worth a try.

As long as you can put up with the words "Not OK," you'll be okay :)

Oh yea, and don't yawn in that class. He get's all offended if you yawn, even if you're litterally sick and tired.

Heh... Ask Eric about Vanderark... he has some stories to tell.

I had VA for a study hall and he seems really bent on the rules. Most teachers can be kinda slack about the Study hall rules but VA was hell bent on making everyone miserable in there. Dunno about his English class policies but I'd say it's a good idea to get on his good side.

But again, talk to Eric... he has horror stories.

Well, I believe that this was a public post. And, I'm honestly hoping for as much information as possible....

VanderArk....sucks...period.
honestly, he's not that intelligent of a teacher. he's easily annoyed, touchy-feely, and acts like everyone is 5.
I failed his class, but personally, i didnt try very hard...as long as your friend keeps a low profile and does decent work, he should be fine...decent work to vanderarks standards that is, which are retardedly skewed.
