I just finished single-player yesterday, and loved it. I was especially impressed that they managed to make GlaDOS a [mostly] sympathetic character, and I thought the new mechanics worked great - they add depth without contriving complexity.

I thought they should have made a better reason for the character to go through the 'historic' vaults. It was there for GlaDOS' character development, and to give the gel puzzles a fresh setting, but I just kept wondering what Chell was doing there, you know? Just seemed one conversation short of cohesive, in terms of story. But the gameplay was there, so I won't complain.

Overall, game of the fucking year. Can't wait to try co-op. (And I hate online gaming, so that's saying something.)

I find it interesting that you thought the end was too long. I was actually disappointed when all of a sudden, there I was going against Wheatley. I also found him waaaaay easier to beat than GLaDOS ever was. I only had to redo the last sphere once, and that was only because I didn't see it with enough time to actually set myself up to get it. GLaDOS actually took me a couple more tries and proved more difficult. Maybe it was just that I've had much more Aperture Laboratories testing under my belt now, or because Wheatley was, well, a moron. lol! Though I agree the vintage Aperture did drag on a little, it wasn't too bad an dit was fun to explore the little nuances of what was left behind ( ... )

What I meant by the end was, the Wheatley tests.

I knew the game was nearly over at that point. When the reactor started to go critical, that was a chapter marker that said, "This is the end." It made me feel like I had a sense of purpose and a reason to complete those test chambers as fast as possible. If they moved those pieces towards the middle, or added another chapter -after- it and let the facility start to eat itself afterwards, I'd have been much much happier with it and I wouldn't have felt that the end was too long. Still though, it's a minor nitpick compared to the bigger opus that was the game.

Yeah, I can't wait for PSN to go back up. I won a bunch of money playing blackjack that weekend and picked up the official sony Bluetooth headset just for multiplayer.

BTW, what's your steam ID? Alkrea?
