Hi... I read your post in Ratties but you made it unreply-able... first of all, I'm sorry THS put you on a waiting list - I didn't think they'd do that, but we do have a lot of rats in the shelter right now.
I agree, the Missasauga Animal shelter is being very, very annoying and unfair (amongst the various reasons, $20 to adopt a rat is way out of line - you can buy them at the pet store for $10, and the THS adopts them out for $6). But I'm not sure I understand... the rats are at the shelter right now, right? You might not be happy about it (I certainly wouldn't be), but the rats are at the shelter right now, and that's the important thing, isn't it? Am I missing something?

Actually, the problem was I DON'T have that kind of money just sitting around. If I did, I wouldn't have had to give up the rats in the first place (there were a lot of circumstances surrounding this). And I couldn't afford to drop them off at the shelter, and the shelter would not ALLOW me to keep my own rats, or give them to a petstore BEFORE I had agreed to surrender them at all. It was just a little sketchy that they wanted a drop-off fee and an adoption fee for rats they didn't even have yet.
I'm also very worried because if what they say is true and they are going to have the rats for 5 or so months, then I feel they would have been better off at the petstore. At least then they would have found homes much quicker.
