I don't believe that becoming a famous scientist means that you have to actually invent anything or even have a new idea. You really just have to have the audacity to tell everyone something they already know in an authoritative matter. For instance: Newton didn't invent gravity. The law of gravity was in play long before Newton. People understood ( Read more... )

Umm..this is why they should teach science more in high school.

Isaac Newton didn't "decide that there is a Law of gravity" because he simply noticed things. He mathematized gravity in a way that nobody had. He described it precisely with F(g) = Gm(1)m(2)/r^2. His three laws of motion helped us get to the Moon forty years ago. It took a lot of work and experimentation. He had to invent calculus to do it.

Isaac Newton isn't accidentally famous. He changed the world.

Al Gore didn't notice Global Warming first and he certainly didn't do the science-the massive amounts of science done by scientists all over the world. What Al Gore does is try to get people to do something about Global Warming because of the great danger it presents.

Anyone can notice that things fall down and anyone can notice that the weather is getting a little crazy. Newton took it a step farther and so does Al Gore.
