I have a brand new comp with lots and lots of space/memory waiting to be eaten up. I really only use my computer for art and eventually- it will be connected to the net.
The main reason I'm aiming for a Wacom is because Open Canvas is made specifically to work with wacom. But, since you're having problems I'm going to ask you a few questions. ^^
1. What model do you own, how long ago did you buy it? 2. Do you have any kind of warrenty on it? 3. Does it only screw up in specific programs? Or just in general? 4. If it does screw up only in specific programs, do these prgrams supoort wacom and/or tablet pressure? 5. Does your OS/ram/space match the specifications that your tablet needs to work properly?
These are all the things I'll be looking at when shopping about for a new tablet. It'd be helpful if you could answer the questions so I can have some info about wacom from someone who owns one. ^^
Urgh. The woes of artists...sometimes I'm glad to be a talentless hack. :D But remember - in the future you'll be rich and famous and will have fangirls/boys trailing after you constantly - at some point, budgeting will be a thing of the past.
And hey, if my bad news is your good - Dymocks are fucking bastards. Dad spoke with them about some other matter entirely, and it came out that while they don't say it anywhere on the site, the pre-order deliver thing is being conducted by ONE store in some other state - and that books will only be shipped on that day to that state. I won't get mine till the 19th. Fuck that. I'm cancelling the order and will hopefully join you wherever you're going. Would you mind extra company?
I HAVE PREORDERED FROM A&R. Without cancelling the other order, so far, but hopefully I"ll talk to Dad tonight. I also bought a LOT of fabric, in order to make myself a robe by the 16th - I figure its now or never and if I make it I'll get a lot of use out of it through coming movie and book releases... (the staff all said they'd be dressing up...awwwww....)
What time? They open at 9.01, but I want to be at like, the front of the queue.
As I'm dressing up, I want to make the best out of it, so I think we should probably line up arond 7:30am.(maybe earlier) We can camp out in front of the store, sing bawdy songs and squee excitedly. And yaaaay another person to be wearing hogwart robes. <33333
Also also, my mum is knitting me a slytherin scarf for the 16th, so YAY. Omg joy. <33
Mmm...go for wacom, I've never had a problem with mine, and I've had it over three years.
Well, except that I keep losing/breaking the styluses, but that's my own damn fault. Ah...mine was only $99 too, it's a 4X6, I dunno if you need a bigger one. So lovely though, I can't imagine being without it. (Except, yes I can, since stylus #3 is currently MIA)
I was alway curious about ComicWorks...if it's any good, post a review! I don't normally tone things (I just do color like an american comic, or a restricted palette color) but I'm intrigued...
I would love to colour my manga-but I can't do that as it has to be black/white to be published. I've never really toned things either, but I tried the Comicworks demo awhile back.
I wish it would be only $99 here, but I'm in Australia and our doller is worth less. 4x6 might be a tad small for me though, as I have a giant one now and I'm spoiled. I'll have to shop around for prices as well....because I'm working on estimates at the moment.
Yeah, it is a bit small, I guess I've just been working on it so long I'm accustomed to it...I look at the 12X14 ones and just kinda boggle. The pressure on it's fantastic though...I used it with opencanvas a looong time ago (I think OC was shareware at the time? Or maybe I just stole it?) and it worked very nicely.
Hee, yeah, I self publish (meaning, I sneak into the local elementary school and use their color laser printer, 'cause I'm a hoodlum) which is grand, 'cause my coloring skills are the only thing that keeps me from terrible mediocrity.
I think that in the end, my finaces will make me buy a smaller tablet. The size of the tablet in the end does not really matter that much. XDXD And I'm glad to hear it worked well with Open canvas. ^___^
BTW How is the self-publishing going? Do you sell at cons, or do you have a website? *is curious*
