Yes, and it's around the story of an immigrant family who struggle for survival. It's not a happy story at all and that's why it's great. It shows how humans, no matter how humble and/or moral, can be broken down and turned into animals.
My old history teacher and I had a long discussion about it, I've been watnting to read it ever since, but he showed me some of the grosser parts, so I never made the effort, haha.
I have a stack of books to read, but when I'm done I just might seek it out now.
