language & culture summer programs

Feb 07, 2010 20:02

Hello, does anybody know of any language & culture immersion programs in Taiwan? I'm looking for one that is maximum 4 weeks long, during summer (June to September), at an intermediate to advanced level. Thanks!

ETA: I am a college student and I already speak Chinese -- just not very well.

funny you ask because I am in the process of signing up for one!

This Camp is for ages 16-27, 4 weeks long, and awesome apparently :3 My cousin did it last year, so I am trying for it this year!!

There are English translations of all the forms if you cannot read Chinese :D But only 150 kids are allowed in each camp (16-18 and 19-27) so sign up quick! Also get the health test done ASAP because it takes about a week for the hospital to get the lab results back to you (according to my cousin) and the deadline is March 1st

Basically you get to tour around Taiwan, do some Chinese stuff, and speak Chinese. The forms explain it better ;) My cousin had a total blast so I am excited and hope I get in!

i went there last summer. it's actually pretty sweet, though the food in the cafeteria is pretty bad. i'd recommend going there because there is a complete and total Taiwanese culture immersion, as well as cultures from other kids around the world too that you meet.

And if you're not in the San Francisco area, I'm sure you can get more info or find a similar contact at the TECO nearest you.
