Well, it seems that Wall Street has once again come into a season of unrest. This time, we have seen the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, which is unprecedented. Maybe it is time for another Depression. Maybe we need to see the error of our obession with possessions, and really learn how to do with less.

Agreed--I think this will put pressure on people to be more thrifty in their spending decisions and lifestyle. Sometimes, I think something like this is what it takes to give people an economic wake-up call to be smarter with their money.

It really is amazing to me how much stuff we think we really need. I don't need a 73" TV to justify my existence. I don't need a brand new car to make my life have meaning. In the Great Depression, my grandparents had to make do on $2 a day, and that was with my grandfather working on old cars and doing piecemeal work. We don't know how good we have it. Those who forget or don't study history, are doomed to repeat it's errors, to their detriment.
