I know exactly what Marxism is, and every word that has come out of the Obama's mouth has been linked to this ideology. He slipped and said "spread the wealth", and then continued to infer it through his rhetoric. It is not a distorted exaggeration, it's the truth, and it cannot be denied.
I have to remind you that Hitler Youth was the product of National Socialism. This IS a left wing idea.
The bailouts should not have happened. The free market is it's own check and balance. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should have failed, and taken the Dems down with them. They caused this mess, but you won't see that in the media.
The Labour movement didn't come our way, neither did Social Credit. America has always had it's own independence...now we are see it sold out to "hope" and "change".
That said, the man was elected, we don't see many instances of voter fraud, and Bush (thankfully) is now on the way out. Obama will be the President. We'll just see how bad he'll screw things up.
"...every word that has come out of the Obama's mouth has been linked to [Marxism]."
Every word eh? Yeah that victory speech was a classic Marxist treatise. Ja ja proletariat of the world unite! Overthrow the bourgeoisie! As you are clearly using a different dictionary from me, no point continuing to argue by redefinition.
"The Labour movement didn't come our way, neither did Social Credit."
Exactly. You haven't got a serious political left wing. So how realistic is it that Obama will single-handedly turn the country Marxist, raising class conciousness, fomenting class struggle, nationalising production, starting a command economy, removing private property, etc.? It's just not going to happen.
"Hitler Youth was the product of National Socialism. This IS a left wing idea."Godwin? Pro-tip - Nazi Germany was a totalitarian dictatorship, not a socialist state. But OK for arguments sake, let's say Nazis were socialist and Obama's a Marxist. Are you seriously expecting an Obama Youth to arise
( ... )
I'm not saying that Bush is perfect...man, is he far from it...
Obama Youth? Did you see the vid that was on YouTube? Did Obama organize it? No. The very thought of people doing these types of things in the "name of Obama" is ridiculous, but unfortunately, people in this country are borderline to worshiping this man. It's destructive. It doesn't matter what side...there were people who supported Bush no matter what, but not to the near blasphemy and outright blasphemy going on.
Like I told Saxy, he's going to be the President, but I still don't trust him. He will have to rule from the centre, and be able to put his very clear past of partisanship aside to get anything from me resembling respect.
Like q168 said, Obama is far from Socialist. By American political standards he seems very left-leaning, but that just means slightly left of center on a conservative political spectrum, certainly not left of center on the full international political spectrum
( ... )
Most certainly, you are still my friend. We can still think the other is nuts though. :)
I agree with you, I felt that at times the Bush-bashing went too far. I certainly did my fair share when I was campaigning for Kerry, but backed away from it as best I could once he was back for a second term. I actually feel a little bad for Bush, being crushed by so much negativity.
He is a good man, and he was trying to do the best he could for this country. History will reflect this in time.
The really interesting thing that I see is this, "We won, so you have to come together" mentality. It is a 180 from anything out of the liberal camp when it came to President Bush, present company accepted, of course.
Here is what I propose to you...just be my friend...and let's both try to make the best of what we have been given, regardless of politics. The election's over with. He's going to be the President. I hold the office in high regard, no matter who is there. Let's just start there. I've been very clear I don't trust him, but that doesn't mean I won't be watching and listening to what he says. After all, conservatives will still be here to clean up the mess. :P
I knew from the get go Obama was going to win. He could have stood there re-enacting hitler and would have won I think. In polls they said 90% of african american voters voted Obama. And then said 80% said race wasn't an issue. I say 80% of them lied. I am not saying their decision was wrong. I am saying that Obama is the first African American who gathered the funding to run for office. He used alot of things to get people behind him properly. Will he be a good president? No one in the right age is sufficient I think to run the country for now. I am hoping these next 4 years prove me wrong. Either way though, He is alot better than Bush. Some democrats demonstrated many of the things I like for a leader, but no Republican ever has. And our country has been led by republicans for a while now. I think the state of our nation is direct result of repblican policies.
Like they say across all the papers: we elected change.
Now we get to see how quickly Bush can screw things up with the last 7 months he has.
How is he "better" than Bush? He has NO experience, and has been unilateral in his decisions to only work with the far left since the inception of his political career. He's not a person who unites anything, and yet people have believed his rhetoric.
Conservatives always clean up the messes left behind from Democrats, and the same will be true this time as well, if Obama doesn't rule from the centre.
