4th's the busiest initial attack day of the year all over for wildland fires. Luckily, as a rule, they catch them before they get too big, because they're ready, usually.

Yeah, I know. The thing about Riverside is, the city's fireworks show almost always starts a brushfire or two and sometimes they really get out of hand. Then there are all the idiots who are setting off their own (illegal) fireworks around palm trees and old houses with cedar shake roofs...

Riverside? Oh, you look at Riverside wrong and it burns...I see more fire news out of Riverside than probably any other place in Cal, and I follow a huge amount of wildfire news (hubby's a Wildland Fire PIO, former FS, and he got me addicted to tracking fire news)

Yeah, there always have to be the fireworks idiots.

I know about "look at it wrong and it burns." I've lived in Riverside for over 30 years and before that I lived in Sierra Madre, CA.

You'd think that by now, Riverside would learn to clear the brush on the hill that keeps igniting, and hose that area down (or retardant that area down) the morning of the event...
