Summary: Siwon’s routine chore for the dorm becomes less routine with the appearance of Donghae in the dorm's laundry room
#043 - Washing Machines
Siwon whistled as he came down the stairs from getting the last of the colored clothes to be washed. He always preferred to be on laundry duty as opposed to, say, cooking. He thought Leeteuk knew that also.
Still whistling he headed to the laundry room thinking his load of whites should be just about done when he got there. That way, all he would have to do is switch the clothes, then sit and study for 30 minutes waiting for the colors to be done.
Hefting the laundry basket up some, he turned to go through the laundry room door and froze. Sitting in front of the washing machine and dryer was Donghae, just staring at it.
Confused Siwon spoke up, after putting the basket down, “Donghae? Um why are you in here?”
Donghae jumped a little and turned. He smiled at Siwon and said, “Oh, Siwon, hey. I’m just waiting for my shirt to be done in the washer so I put it in the dryer for a couple minutes. I have a date tonight and wanted to really wear that one.”
Siwon gave him a puzzled look. He was trying to remember if any of the clothes were Donghae’s when he put them in. He just remembered all of Leeteuk’s clothes were in there. Since he was the only one to really wear enough white to have their own load for the washer. Although he supposed he could have just not noticed it.
Siwon decided to ask, “You are wearing one of your white tank tops for a date?”
Donghae gave him a disgusted look, “Eww. No. My white tanks are for practice and working out only. This shirt is totally different.”
Siwon started to pale at the sudden thoughts of what could be happening. Before he could confirm anything the washer stopped.
Donghae jumped up, opened the top and started looking through the clothes. What he said next did not bode well for Siwon.
“Oh wow, this must have been a bunch of Sungmin’s clothes. Although I didn’t know you had to wash pink clothes separate from others.” Donghae said, still looking in the washer.
Siwon groaned, put his head in his hands and sank to the floor trying not to cry. He spoke up around his hands for Donghae to hear. “Those aren't Sungmin’s clothes. Those are Leeteuk’s.”
Donghae withdrew from the washer holding a red t-shirt and gave him a paniced look. “Leeteuk’s? Umm I didn’t know Teukie had pink clothes.”
Siwon really felt like crying when he said “That’s because he doesn’t. That was a load of his whites. Didn’t you look before you threw your shirt in?”
Donghae started to look really panicked now. “No, I didn’t think about it. I just heard it on and quickly threw it in. Oh man, Teukie is going to be so mad.”
Siwon wanted to smack him for his flakiness, but he kept himself in check. It's not good to hit his dorm mates. He wasn’t like Heechul.
Siwon was starting to stand up when they heard a shout from the general area of the stairs.
“Hey, Siwon, are my clothes done in the washer yet? I thought I heard it go off. It's such a nice day out. I'll probably hang them up on the roof to dry.” Leeteuk shouted from the stairs.
Donghae, still holding his shirt, looked from the washer to the door and back again.
Siwon could just see the gears working in Donghae's head, whether he could make it out without being caught or not. Just as he sprang to run, Siwon jumped forward and got a hand on the back of his shirt.
Falling, Donghae yelped. Siwon had a death grip on his shirt. No way was he getting blamed for Donghae’s stunt.
Siwon looked down at him and said, “You will go to him right now and tell him what you did. If you don’t, I will make sure you pay.”
Donghae stared at him wide eyed and whispered, “You wouldn’t do anything. You’re the good boy of the dorm and revenge isn’t good karma.”
Siwon chuckled, he sounded so sure of that but, alas, said “I might be the good boy, but Heechul isn’t and I’ll make sure to let him know what you did to his best friend's clothes. So where are you going when I let you go?”
Donghae gulped, “To Leeteuk.”
“Good.” Siwon said and let him go but not before yelling, “Leeteuk! Donghae needs to tell you something important!”
Donghae glared at him when Leeteuk appeared looking puzzled. Siwon watched, smiling, as Donghae lead Leeteuk away from the washer. The next 20 minutes Leeteuk could be heard giving an impromptu lesson filled with words not to ever repeat to your mother.
A couple days later when laundry day rolled back around, a big sign was next to the laundry room. It said ‘Forbidden from Entering on Laundry Day: Lee Donghae’ and Leeteuk even added Donghae’s picture for good measure.
Siwon smiled the whole time washing the clothes.
