Still, he told himself, there wasn't any reason not the be civil. He hadn't told anyone how he'd gotten the bruise on his chin. At least that had healed by now. No reason he couldn't just pretend her part hadn't occurred. She'd probably never let him live down what he'd said, and apologizing would probably only make her more angry.
James didn't say anything to Dalia as he began to assist (starting in another part of the room) picking up the abandoned programs.

He tried to smile a bit at her when they almost collided. "Thought I'd help with the clean-up," he said, though his smile suggested that it was less of a 'wanting to be helpful' action and more a 'I was told to do this.' Not that he wouldn't have helped anyway, but that was at least the main reason he was doing so.
