This VT thing has left me with a weird feeling. I don't really like how the media is handling it, and especially how stupid people are handling it. The killer's actions are in NO way excusable. What he did was monstrous, but he himself wasn't. If anything, he truly needed serious help, and I am bothered by the fact that somehow no one was able to ( Read more... )

Ok I don't want to cause trouble to some of your LJ friends who read this and think it is Christian propaganda or anything...however, if you want to look at it from a scholarly point of view. According to the Bible you do not go to Hell for committing suicide. Yes it is called the "unforgivable sin", but not because God can't forgive it. Because it is the one sin you can't ask forgiveness for after you have committed it (because then you are dead and in the presence of God). That doesn't mean you go to Hell. Plus, also according to the Bible, the only way you can get to Heaven is to accept Jesus as the Son of God and accept Him as a personal savior. And it says that once you do that your name is written in the "Book of Life" and it can never be erased. Meaning that if you were a Christian and you were truly to go to Hell on account of suicide...then God would be breaking a promise He has made through His holy word. Also, on a personal note...a lot of people who are suicidal need help. They aren't thinking about it for spite. They are ( ... )

Ok sorry last thing. If God can forgive murder why would He not forgive self-murder?...And I found this and think it helps explain things as well.

Ok seriously last thing, I know there are a lot of super hard core conservative Christians out there that would still disagree with me. But then they also believe you can lose your salvation. Which, I do not believe at all. (It is unfounded if you ask me, but that is another rant. haha) And I would go back to your original feeling. A lot of people will try and interpret the Bible to suit them. Whether they want to judge/preach to someone using it or whether they want to connect with God. You just have to know what YOU believe to be true. I do not believe that a loving, caring God who gives salvation so freely and wants to save humanity would take it away. It is called faith for a reason. And again seriously, this isn't me preaching to anyone. I just wanted to help give Amber verses and written documentation to support her the next time she has to have the suicide argument.

Um, I love you :) Thanks for all of that. I have a wonderful two page spread of Jonathon Rhys Meyers from the Friday edition of the NY Times.... I'm trying to track down another copy so you and Leni can both have one. I'm also taking a picture of it for Leni tonight, so if you would like to see that as well.... lol. Just let me know! And thanks again!

You're less heartless than me. I kinda don't care about the situation since it doesn't involve me directly. I would be sad if I knew someone or knew someone that knew someone, but I'm not going to talk about it forever. I would probably be coma-esque in my sadness if it was a close friend. But life goes on ( ... )

Just in response to your knowing someone, a guy you graduated with was interviewed in the paper as going there and he actually hid in one of the classrooms in, I think, an adjacent building. Robert Stephens. Just thought I'd point that out.
