In Character Information
character name: Lia De Beaumont
Fandom: Le Chevalier D'Eon
Timeline: A few days after her engagement party
character's age: 29
powers, skills, pets and equipment: Lia is a Poet, that is, one capable of causing massive damage by reading the Biblical Psalms. She has mastered them and can summon the power at will in order to defend herself or when it is deemed necessary by those in power. She is also an expert swordswoman, perhaps the best female in France.
She has a rapier for fighting, as well as her own personal Psalm(book). Otherwise she has her boot knife and a plethora of ridiculous undergarments.
canon history: Lia De Beaumont was born in 1721 in France, the bastard daughter of King Louis XIV and a noblewoman. She was followed soon by a little brother and both children enjoyed a stable home life and a fine education. As a teenager she entered the court scene as a noble and quickly found work in the king's secret service. She met and fell in love with Maximilien Robespierre during this time as well and the two became lovers for nearly the next decade of Lia's life.
Lia traveled all over Europe and into Russia, testing the political climate and reporting back to her king. In England she was inducted into a secret society, given the ability to recite Biblical Psalms in order to work types of magic. While there she discovered she was pregnant by Maximilien. Arrangements were made to sail back to France and to marry. Unfortunately upon arrival, Maximilien withdrew from her. Lia read a book he'd become obsessed with. This book was prophetic, showing the names of all the kings of France who would be and the fate they would meet. It was through this she discovered Maximilien was the rightful king (the would be Louis XV) and therefore she was his half sister by their father. IT also revealed Maximilien would bring down the French monarchy.
Heartbroken, Lia realized finally why the king had been warning her away from Maximilien for all those years. She left a note for him stating they must do what was right for France and prepared to leave court. A messenger intercepted her at church, stating that Maximilien wanted to meet her. She went to a room of the church and shut the door, only to find Louis XV waiting for her with a sword in hand.
personality: By most outside sources, Lia is seen as kind and compassionate and a model of what a lady with noble breeding should be. Her etiquette and manners are perfect and she is intelligent and well read. In the political arena, however, Lia is fierce. Though she remains diplomatic under the worst of circumstances, she takes things very much to heart and an injury toward her cause is not one taken lightly or soon forgotten.
Lia's most major flaw is her loyalty. Be it an employer she believes in or a lover who has been by her side, Lia is faithful to the point of blindly shutting out anything negative another person may do. Even if it compromises her own values, she will be obedient to those in power and not cause a conflict with those she cares for.
Lia is proud of her skill (especially with a sword) and her upbringing, but blends well enough with those from different backgrounds. She is constantly plotting the best move to make, even socially. At first glance her personality comes off as someone devoted only to her work
why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting? Because her canon is full of transsexuals and zombies. Mostly it is the zombie killing that is relevant.
Previously Played Information
previous game:
plutoixlength of time there:Four-ish months?
important development and/or events in your previous game: Lia was updated as to the happenings of the last couple of centuries. This was absolutely grueling to play out. She also discovered more about fetus happenings.
notes: I intend for babby to go away, at some point before it becomes an in game entity.
Writing Samples
Network Post Sample: This is not the Apocalypse I expected. Where are the angels? Where is the flaming sword? Where is the pit of fire? I'm a bit relieved...I haven't been to Mass in too long. Except for today of course but it doesn't truly count if you aren't going for piety.
...I tried to be a pious woman. Truly. I simply failed spectacularly at it.
Third Person Sample:Lia was standing at the window, fingers curled idly around the silver crucifix dangling from her neck. She watched her trunks being loaded, the first to be shipped back home to France. They weren't leaving for another month; it was amazing how much clothing one could amass in two years.
"I should be getting back," Maximilien said. "There's so much to do and..."
"I need to speak with you," Lia interrupted. One pale eyebrow lifted in question and Lia forged ahead. "I haven't...had my cycle in two months. Not since the ritual for the queen and I thought it was simply that. But then this month...and there have been other symptoms." She was babbling. She shook her head and pressed her lips closed, looking to her lover for his reaction.
Maximilien was pale. He approached her cautiously, looking as though he might break. Her face fell. She'd been so certain that he wouldn't reject her. "How long do you have? I'm so sorry, Lia. I never thought this would make you ill."
"Ill?" She froze, then finally burst out laughing. "Maximilien I'm not ill or dying. Quite the opposite." Her fingers grabbed his, guiding them to her still flat lower abdomen. "I'm carrying your child."
There was a pause. And then Maximilien started laughing too.
Anything else? I know her back story is not historically accurate. The source material is not historically accurate and several major plot points rely upon the world the creators set up. Sorry.
