Etsy Thieves...

Thanks to machinarex and hilltop for the heads up.

A company called http://www.traderlou.com is stealing from Etsy. They are lifting people's posted items from Etsy and selling them on their own site, with the photos and descriptions left intact from the Etsy posting.

Apparently they're yanking pages down left and right...all pages with prints have disappeared, and ( Read more... )

I don't understand how these people could be stealing jewelry off Etsy, though. I mean, I get how you could swipe images, reprint and sell them (although the print quality would likely be for crap, given the size limits on Etsy images), but jewelry? How?

No idea, hon. I just now found out and immediately thought of you and posted this.

I'm guessing they just steal the photos of the jewelry and post them on their website.

Any idea yet, what you're going to do about your images?

Whatever stealing they're doing, I hope they will be caught and there'll be consequences.

It was just last week I told my mother about etsy when she asked for a place to sell her stuff. Hope she didn't yet register.

Wow!
Well, at least now you can warn her.

I suppose it's a risk we all take on any website, I guess.

I looked for more information about the situation, and what was happening was that this company was stealing photos and design ideas from Etsy jewelry sellers. Using the Etsy sellers' photos and descriptions without their knowledge, and having knock-off versions of the jewelry made overseas for cheap sale.

Now that it's been discovered, the outcry has caused most if not all the stolen photos/item descriptions to be removed.

Ah...I didn't have the wearwithal to do any research so I'm glad you did and told me. I appreciate that very much.

I guess this means you're leaving your stuff posted on Etsy?
