Pens of the Week Returns!

It's now week three of the summer term, and these are the pens I'm using for this week's work (drafts of dissertation chapter two, mostly). They are my new Lamy Al-Star (F nib), in purple-black, and my lovely Pelikan 100. The Al-Star more of a burgundy colour than a true purple, I'd say. The Pelikan 100 was very conservatively restored by me - it' ( Read more... )

those are the best of inexpensive pens. I have two Lamys here medium and a broad. I use Noodlers purple in the broad!

This is my third - I also have a pink Safari (1.1 italic nib), and a rather purple-stained Vista (EF nib). When the purple Al-Star came out in the UK I had to have it.

Is that the purple Al-Star? It's quite a maroon/plummy shade of purple, isn't it?

Yes, that's the supposedly purple Al-Star. I had PR Burgundy Mist ink in it, and it's not a bad match for that colour. I was expecting it to be a more violet-toned purple, in line with their violet Studio.

The first picture I saw of the purple Al-Star showed it to be much more purple looking, almost like the violet Studio. I wonder now if it was the blue one with poor lighting.

I actually like the colour, it is very pretty, but it's very much a plum or burgundy rather than purple. I like the colour enough that I will probably still get it one day, if I don't decide I'd rather the violet Studio or raspberry Al-Star. Or if I decide I need another pen like I need a hole in the head. :)
