So, what were you expecting from me tonight? Yes, it's another How I Met Your Mother Barney/Robin picspam! I mean, how could I not picspam tonight's (technically last night's once I post this) show?
Besides the obvious, parts of this episode were very much about Barney and Robin. Especially Barney's ... concern for her? lol Stick with me here!
Barney clearly has an obsession with Robin, but right now all his brain is telling him is "BOOBIES". Yes, everyone else was talking about them but Barney's little glance was quite telling. As was his "those two big reasons". How adorable is Robin, reveling in the attention?
Now, everyone's disgusted by Simon but while Ted seems to think the whole thing is kind of funny Barney looks absolutely horrified at the idea of Robin ever dating this guy. Plus then he talks about her being a "little celebrity", trying to get her some points. And I just love his face at the words "The Foreskins".
Let it be known that Barney Stinson has watched "Let's Go To The Mall" a 1,000 times. He said this more than once, people. And I'm not so sure his completely estatic reaction to hearing there's another Robin Sparkles video is all about the lulz. The thought of having two hot Robin videos on his computer has got to help. ;)
Again, he's very excited to hear she got a second chance. He wants her to "FINISH HIM!", and then is all disappointed when she "ooOoooOOooo wah wah!" instead.
Yeah, this is when I felt the atmosphere of the episode change. When Robin was left alone, who's the last character to show up who was there before? Ooo I knew something good was gunna happen. I love how Barney goes from "DARN IT NO TAPE" to "OMG MAH BB WHAT'S WRONG?" And props to Neil, for always getting Barney's genuine scenes so right.
He comforts her! BARNEY COMFORTS ROBIN. He builds her up and oh hey, where's Ted? Yeah. It's Barney to the rescue. Plus he strokes her shoulder/arm the whole time which is just a combination of sweet and hot. Hot and spicy! Ok, I'll stop.
She's the second most awesome person! He makes her laugh! Ok, something's gunna happen. His face when she asks him to her place is just priceless and I love the little callback to "The Bracket" with the whispering in the ear.
OH NO WAIT NOTHING'S GUNNA HAPPEN?!?! They're just watching the tape. Why do you tease us so, writers? Oh but wait now... Robin's looking longingly in Barney's direction... She's easing closer... (Yes they are so adorable just watching the tape. BroTP for life.)
She's close. OH MAN SHE'S CLOSE. And then BLAH-DOW! This is when I lost control. My arms start flailing and my face breaks in half from smiling so hard. HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW SUCKERS? WHAT. WHAT.
Ahem. Sorry. But how legendary is that? That's like full on, crazy, take me now, making out. I love it. I love them. Perfect episode. Ilu writers.
Other highlights, as always:
-Lily and her friend. Classic comedy. Even though, where did they grow up that they acted like that when they were in high school? lol
-I never though I'd list James Van Der Beek as a highlight, nor talk about him in my LJ, but he did a pretty good job. His character was perfect, douchey and disgusting.
-Lily and Marshall being Robin's parents.
-Punchy and Ted. Oh Ted, sometimes you do entertain me.
-MURDER TRAIN. They thought they were going to kill the dogs! YES.
-And of course, "Sandcastles In The Sand". Lovely.
