[Private to Ethan]

Er.  Maybe I'm not really the person to make this sort of observation, but...I suppose I just need to put this to you from an outside perspective.

You write in your journal about there being books everywhere.  Then people start disappearing into hexed books that've been left lying around.  Then there's something asking if anyone ( Read more... )

So...you did do it?

Stop it. Undo the spells before anybody gets hurt. I mean it.

Look, if my wild bid for attention was aimed at you? Then maybe there'd be something you could do to convince me to undo it, however, it was not. So make me.

You did this for attention? That's funny, because you don't write like a little boy who fancies the girl next door.

We find him and make him undo it, or at least tell you how to undo it.

He's on Level 5, in room 14. Meet me there.

Merlin still wasn't sure about this - using his magic openly at all, never mind against other sorcerers - but since he'd shown up and almost everyone had known who he was anyway, staying in the closet had gotten really irrelevant really quickly.

And it wasn't as if he could just let this lie. He didn't know any of the books that had been mentioned, but the people taken could be in danger - and using magic like this Ethan had was just disgusting.

He was carrying his spell book in his leather sling bag when he got to the door of Ethan's room, a frown on his face as he waited for 'Angel' to arrive.

Angel arrived only seconds later, having rushed down from the pub. In hindsight, he really should have known it was Ethan from the beginning and made Ethan's room his first stop. But better late than never.

"Merlin, right?" he said, addressing the kid standing in the hallway. Without waiting for an answer, he banged on Ethan's door. "Ethan! Open up!"

After a couple of minutes the door opened, and there stood Ethan. If there had been any doubt about the possibility that he'd been doing magic recently, it is instantly dispelled by his appearance. Crimson shirt hanging half open, with arcane symbols scrawled across his chest and the glisten of oil brushed across his forehead, Ethan regarded them with the bleary eyes of a man who might not have been solely acknowledging reality for the last day or so.

He gave a pleased little grin, and waved at the two visitors.
