Right, so, that was strange. I've only just really remembered speaking to the Admiral, coming here for the first time...and I was really only gone for a few days? Because I was back in Camelot for ages, and I didn't remember the Barge at all...does this sort of thing happen a lot? I hope not. I really don't want to be messed around like that ( Read more... )

Glad to hear you're getting settled! How was your trip to Camelot?

it was not alright. :c takeyouapart December 9 2009, 18:45:54 UTC
It was alright, thanks! It was like I'd only stepped out for five minutes, so in retrospect that's confusing, because I was here for almost two months before I went back. But it was really good. When I left I was still a bit worried about my mum and some of my friends, but they're all okay.

It's Wichita, right? I'm still getting to know some of the newer people.

Oh, that's great. What's your relationship with Arthur, anyway?

Yeah, that's my name.

I'm his manservant. And his friend. Sometimes.

It's a bit complicated.

And don't believe anything Ethan tells you because he and I are not

Yeah, presents. People give each other things. Friends and family mostly, not just at random, I don't think. Still haven't worked out exactly why, but it's a nice idea.

I suppose it's easier if it's something you grow up with. The mistletoe's kind of - I mean, the druids use that around the winter solstice, I don't know what it's got to do with Christmas other than that they happen around the same time.

I've gone back home for what seems like months only to return a few days later here.

Bit jarring, isn't it?

It is, yeah. I'm still trying to figure out why it happened and why the time elapsed doesn't appear constant between us all.

I've just been sticking all that under the same category as 'why there are people around from over a thousand years into my future'. Even if someone did explain it to me I don't think I'd understand the answer.

...

Oh, sorry, I don't think we've - I'm Merlin. Nice to meet you.

You've my sympathy. That kind of thing happens to me a lot.

Not here on the Barge, at least not yet, but all too often I've turned up somewhere with no memory of having been there before while surrounded by people who seem to know everything about what I've been up to. And no, one never does quite get used to it.

I'll just have to hope it doesn't happen again, then. Between the Barge and Camelot, it was like I was living those few months in different places at the same time.

Sounds like a classic trans-temporal-dimensional anomaly. (That's to say, a disruption that occurs across multiple times and universes.) Frankly, I'm surprised that sort of thing doesn't happen all the time around here. The Barge is practically a travelling instability.

It never really seems stable what with the floods and everything. And, uh, thanks for defining that.

So.. are you okay now?

takeyouapart December 10 2009, 00:19:46 UTC
Yeah, I'm fine. I mean, there wasn't anything that wrong with me, I'd just forgotten that I was here.

You're Hayley, yeah?

Do you remember now or did people just tell you about it?

Yeah. You're Merlin. Do you remember talking to me at all?

I remember. People told me stuff and it helped, but I remember everything myself now. And I never forgot who I was.

I don't think we've ever spoken. I've wanted to, but...you talk like you don't want to make friends, a lot of the time.
