“Oh my God, I can’t look.” Mohinder tried to watch his adopted son be balanced on the wooden sled but felt like he was watching a horror movie.
Gabriel squeezed his arm.“Will you please relax? I made it, it’s sturdy!”
Noah slapped his hands excitedly on his legs and turned his rosy face up to Mohinder. “I’ll be okay daddy, I can do it.”
“I know you can darling, but be very, very careful and lean back when it starts to move.” He looked at Gabriel and lowered his voice. “You’d better keep an eye on him, if he starts to go off course….”
“Stop worrying! It’ll be fine!” Gabriel wiggled his fingers. “I have it under control, ok?”
Mohinder sighed. “Alright.” He crouched down to Noah and put the straps in his hands. “Now keep straight, and be careful!” He turned away. “Oh God, I can’t watch this…”
“Ready Noah? One, two, three!” Gabriel pushed the sled gently off the hill, using his telekinesis to keep it straight and not allowing it to pick up a lot of speed.”
“Slow it down, he’s going really fast!” Mohinder yelled, grabbing Gabriel’s shoulder.
“Oh he is not! It’s slower than a hearse.”
Suddenly, the sled seemed to speed up, and spun round to the right, making a figure of eight in the snow and travelling back up the hill. Mohinder panicked. “What the hell are you doing?”
Gabriel looked strangely worried. “Er, I’m not doing that. Oh man, I think he’s doing it himself.”
“What?!!” Mohinder ran down the hill towards Noah while Gabriel brought the sled to a halt, easily overpowering it now the shock had subsided. He followed Mohinder, wondering how this was going to play out.
“Hey buddy!” Gabriel forced a smile and picked his son up. “That was awesome, how did it come back up the hill like that?”
Noah grinned. “I don’t know Daddy, I was excited!”
Gabriel and Mohinder looked at each other with concern. “Ok…” Mohinder said, picking up the sled. “Well I think we should get back to Grandma now, she’s back at the house praying for you.”
Gabriel put Noah down and let him run ahead towards the house. “So, it could just have been a fluke, right?”
Mohinder put a hand to his head. “I’ll get another blood sample. Do you think Primatech will be open on Christmas Day?”
“You’d better hope so because if that’s what he can do when he’s sledding, think of how excited he’s going to be when he opens his presents.”
“Oh God…..”
Gabriel stopped him in his tracks. “Hey, didn’t your mom say she had candy for him when he got back?”
The two men sprinted towards the house, yelling Noah’s name. This was going to be one interesting Christmas….
