Commentfic: Rupert Giles/John Winchester and Luke/Lyle

They have double copies of the same books which they add to the newly mended shelves, passing each other smug looks when one realises they have an edition earlier than the other.

They share ingredients, potions, weapons, and an antique bed where they actually feel safe.

There are two different kinds of milk in the fridge, and in their nest, this is the only thing which marks them as two separate people.

#2 Heroes : Luke/Lyle : Help

Lyle didn’t know if it was having a dad who had a double life, or a sister with a secret, or a mom with eyes in the back of her head seemingly, but he had an eye for when people were up to no good. The artless way the guy next to him in the aisle was slipping candy bars into his pocket made Lyle wonder if he was actually hungry. He certainly wasn’t thin, his cheeks were a little chubby if anything, but he looked distracted and more than a little jumpy.

Lyle felt someone brush past him and saw the kid dart, his eyes wide. He was easily caught by Al, the big guy who ran the store, and the whole ‘robbery’ was over in seconds.  Al fished in the guy’s pockets, pulling out a few candy bars and some gum. “You gonna pay for this kid or am I gonna call the cops?”

Lyle saw the boy stretch his hand out as if he was warding something off, and he could have sworn the air moved in front of him. But the kid dropped his hand, sighing, a real look of defeat on his face. “I don’t have any money, come on give me a break, I’ll put it back.”

“Sorry kid, you shoulda thought about that.” Al pointed to a hand written sign which said ‘Shoplifters prosecuted - store polisy’.

“I’ll pay for it.” Lyle heard himself say, fixing his eyes on the boy’s. “If I pay for it will you let him off?”

Al sighed. “Call it $4.” As Lyle handed over the bills the kid ran and for reasons unknown to even him he ran after him. He ran straight into an dead end, clearly not a local, and turned, embarrassed.

“You coulda just said thanks.” Lyle shrugged, looking for a little too long at the boy’s lips. “He would called the cops you know.”

“Thanks.” The boy shrugged. “My name’s Luke.”

“Ly- “ Screeching tyres cut him off and he spun round to see a black van like the one parked outside the Bennet residence hurtling up the street. When he looked back at Luke his hands were starting to glow a little and the penny finally dropped.

“Run!” He dragged Luke to the end of the alley where there was a thin gap between buildings. The boys shuffled along it until they were able to duck out onto a dirt track behind the convenience store. Lyle took Luke’s hand and pulled him into a parking garage as they saw the van drive off again in the opposite direction.

They looked at each other, and Lyle suddenly pulled his hand away. Luke grabbed at Lyle’s jacket and pulled him close, kissing him until Lyle’s mouth opened and he could slip his tongue inside, licking tentatively as he felt hands around his waist, pulling him in closer. For a while the only sounds were their soft moans and the smacking of their lips before a police siren sounded and they broke apart, panicked. “You can come to my place, we have other people there like you, I can sneak you in.”

Luke took a deep breath and nodded. “Okay, lets go.”

As Lyle moved away Luke pulled him back, laying one last kiss on his lips. “That was for the candy.”
