Today was rough at work, with a page that worked perfectly on the development and test servers, but when pushed to the staging server was horking without explanation. I asked one of the IT guys to send me the server log for the page so I could see if there were any obvious "Hey stupid, you forgot to link to blahblahcriticalfile" type messages. ( Read more... )

Nah, just didn't feel like potentially getting fired for revealing some kind of inside corporate info. ;) The error text, however, is 100% unedited.

That is just a bizarre error message.

One of my own rules for software I develop is: no silly or inscrutable error messages. I might need to actually understand them!

Oh damn. That's better than any of the ones I've come across. I've had developers name objects in strange ways, like Poodle or DEFCON, and minor game references sneaked into error messages, but that...that just takes the cake. At least their errors were still helpful.
