meme :: A mixed list for Toronto/the GTA and Ontario.

Jul 27, 2010 13:37

You know you're from the GTA when...
You realize there are far more rainbow flags in the city than Canadian flags.

At least three of your friends have moved to Vancouver.

The word "Cabbagetown" doesn't strike you as particularly amusing.

You laugh heartily at people who refer to highway "four hundred and one."

ATM machines have instructions written in English, French, Chinese, Urdu, Russian, and something you can't recognize but has a either too many or too few vowels.

You see your former mayor on TV in an old-fashioned prison jump suit trying to sell you a discount-priced sofa.

Castle Frank subway station remains one of the great mysteries of the universe for you.

You know who the 'Rat Guy' is.

You know you're from Ontario when...
You consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by.

You're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights each year because Wawa is the coldest spot in the nation.

You have worn shorts and a parka at the same time.

You measure distance in hours.

You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.

You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction.

Your 1st of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost.

Gas-station restrooms all consist of circa 1968 wood panelling, and are freezing inside.

You live in a house that has no front step, yet the door is one meter above the ground.

You frequently clean grease off your barbecue so the bears won't prowl on your deck.

The trunk of your car doubles as a deep freezer.

All of these are true. I just removed the ones about snowmobiling, the vomit comet, and any mention of swimming in The Lake.
