So I got a 360 just over a week ago.
On it's 1 week anniversary at home with me, Saturday, I think that I should exchange my game pad for another. Pressing 'down' on the dpad isn't as responsive as it could be.
But what does Best Buy tell me? I have to return MY ENTIRE 360 SYSTEM just to get a new game pad.

You're basically just talking about the controller not working right?
The other option you could do is talk to management. Keep working your way up the manager ladder until you get to someone who will do whatever you want to make you go away, lol.

Seriously, that is way beyond stupid. Any decent game store keeps a spare stock for exchanges like that. Hell, what they should do is take a perfectly good controller from one of their broken units and swap it for your broken controller. It makes no freaking sense that you have to return everything.
Get the store number and the manager's name and write a formal complaint (email even) to Best Buy's corporate office. They cause you trouble, you cause them trouble. :)
