I hope everyone is hard at work on their stories and artwork for
takingitinturns! Whenever your piece is ready, you can post it here -- anytime between now and April 14.
When you are ready to post your artwork or story, please follow these basic guidelines:
Post your work in whole to the community -- not just a link. Please wait until the master list has been posted on April 24 to post your work elsewhere. In the meantime, please feel free to link back to your story at
takingitinturns and promote all you like. :)
In the subject line, please format as follows: (including ART or FIC in the subject, for whatever type of work it is)
ART: "Title" by Artist
-or-
FIC: "Title" by Author
In the post itself, please include the following header, removing the text in [brackets] and filling in as relevant:
To: [Your Gift Recipient] Title:Author/Artist:Pairing: Harry/Ginny [list any others that play a significant role in the story]
Rating:Word Count: [fic only] OR
Media: [artwork only]
Summary: Author/Artist's Notes: The header should be visible to everyone who visits the community. Below the header, please place your work behind an
lj-cut tag.
The story itself must be formatted with a blank line between every paragraph, so the text doesn't run together.
If you want a word to appear in bold or italic print, include html tags as explained
here. I strongly recommend using the html update mode, as you will be able to fit more text in your post, and the text looks cleaner that way. If you prefer to use the rich text update mode, please format the header within that mode and do not leave the html code visible.
Note for authors of long stories: this year, the fest does not allow for serialized or WIP posting. You should be able to fit up to about 10,500 words in one post using the html posting interface. If your story is longer than that, you may divide it into two or more parts, but many short chapters are not permitted. All parts must be posted on the same day. Please contact me before posting a story in multiple parts, as the moderation queue only allows for one post at a time, and WIP posts will not be accepted.
Posts to the community will be moderated, so I can make sure that posts fit the community requirements and include the right header and lj-cut. Please hit the "preview" button before posting to make sure everything looks good. If you have any questions about posting format, or need help with your story, or anything at all, just let me know and I'll be happy to help out!
also, on an unrelated personal note -- I've changed my lj name, but I'm still the same moderator you're used to, and can still be reached at the same email address and via lj PM. Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. ♥
