Hah, before I got to the point where you discovered it was Strength in Numbers, I was going to recommend them based on the description. My closely related favorite is Skip, Hop, and Wobble, which has several overlapping members with Strength in Numbers, and is one of my favorite albums to fall asleep to. Bela Fleck's group, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones is also good, although there is only one of their albums that I really love (and I can't remember which one it is, either their first eponymous album or Flight of the Cosmic Hippo?).

I recently got an album by Chris Thile (who wasn't in Strength in Numbers, but is part of the same New Grass movement, and is an absolutely fabulous mandolin player), Punch by the Punch Brothers, but I haven't been able to make up my mind about it yet. Clearly, I need to try sleeping to it. Probably immediately, as it is almost 3 am.
