Ugh, I had a feeling this could go spectacularly wrong. Nevertheless, I'm glad he went through with it--I really think Erik needs to be stopped, one way or the other, and while I would [refer he lived to tell the tale, I don't see how that might work

Yeeeaaah it was kind of doomed from the start. XD

Noooo they do not like Charles. :o But more than that - they don't like Charles' ideas! And he is really having more of an impact on Brotherhood policy than Charles realizes. Also, having someone like Charles (that is, a telepath) = FAST way of acquiring followers of your own!

Oh no worries! I just posted two more chapters and then there is more to come after that. This is sort of a false climax - there is a bit more rising action to come after this and THEN the end! The ending might not be happy but it's not going to be very sad either, I think. I don't know - it's kind of a morally ambiguous ending? :/ You will have to see! :)

Oh my god!! I can't believe you left a cliffhanger!! What's gonna happen to poor Charles now?! I'm a big fan of your writings and have been closely following your story since chapter 1 and I would love to say that your writings are just soooooooooooooo detailed (to the point where I get so frustrated and kept on fidgeting in my seat, waiting for more updates) and I often re-read your chapters. Sigh... I'm a big sucka for dominant Erik and helpless Charles but still full of fighting spirit.

How ridiculously invested in this story am I?

So ridiculously invested that reading the last chapter was actually painful for me, because I have a terrible time dealing with embarrassment/humiliation, and I'm so invested in Charles and his situation that I can't even handle it. Which is a testament to your skill as a writer, and the creation of this story.

And all of that super sneaking around . . . and gods alone know what has happened to Hannah and Beast. And Charles too! I mean-- I know he can't be dead, but Zeus took him . . . for what reason? And what will be done with him, and to what purpose? Clearly not to return him, as Charles himself already figured out.

Of course, taking Charles and not killing him is rather perilous in and of itself, since Charles is fairly powerful in his own right (although his power is often and fairly easily circumvented, as we've seen), and Magneto is certainly not going to stand for the abduction of his own prisoner. I do wonder how the mutants in Erik's inner circle, and indeed other people in

I am not complaining about your investedness! :D Although yes I do know what you mean and that is why I can't watch farce comedy movies; I just get too embarrassed for the characters. D:

Yeeeaaaah they have rather more confidence in their ability to thwart Charles' telepathy than is really appropriate. :o And, mm, I don't think they know how intense and personal it is. I think they know that C&E are friends, or at least appear to be, but I think if they see a devotion there it's more of a "oh, Magneto is very possessive of his trophy prisoner!" Because they would see it as more of a power thing..

Ooooh yes I'm glad that you like the scientist showdown thing because it is TOTALLY SOMETHING THAT SCIENTISTS DO. We foist unwanted science on non-scientists and we try to one-up each other constantly! XD
