I was pretty bummed about it. In my head Pluto is still a planet.

Saw a novelty shirt the other day: "don't worry Pluto, I'm not a planet either."

Oh, I'm not contesting that it doesn't suck-- it was all very silly, I have to say, and more about semantics than science, but I mean that was two years ago, you know? It seems so remote now that I'm surprised anyone still really thinks about it that much.

I had totally forgotten about that. It seems so distant.

Hey Pedro, I didn't know you still existed actually. Assumed you'd died.

What's going on?

Not a lot. Got a job at a local classical music station, so I've been busy with that. Saving up money. Going to UC Davis in the fall.

You?

Hey, super cool! Are you a DJ, or do you just tell the DJs when they're slipping out of their fake British accents or something? Either way, sounds like a cool way to kill time before going off to das college. When are you going off?

Oh, me, I'm mostly being a recluse. I sleep all day and watch cartoons/read/kill time all night. It's my new life.

I was okay with the not a planet thing. I just wished that they hadn't decided to make a new designation and call them Plutoids.

What else, Pluto is/was (depending on what you read) my ruling planet as a Scorpio.

Bad news. We're incompatible, astrologically.

It was a weird, knee-jerk sentimental reaction-- simultaneously a reaction against Science and for childhood. Weird society.
